Piano

Nurturing curiosity means meeting students where they are-this is done by teaching students songs they already enjoy and using them as natural learning opportunities.
In these piano lessons, students will learn to play by ear, read music, explore music theory, rhythm, improvisation, songwriting, and bring everything together in performance.
Voice

The Joy of Finding Your Voice
As a singer, is it so important to develop and discover your voice in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.
In the lessons, we focus on artistry—learning how to “paint with your voice” by bringing each song to life through emotion and expression. I teach technique in a way that young students can understand, while sharing performance skills to help my students gain confidence.
Songwriting

Telling a Story Through Music
Helping students write their own music by teaching them how to tell a story through melody. Together, we’ll explore the key elements of strong storytelling—how to craft a clear beginning, middle, and end—and how to express it effectively through music.
We’ll dive into harmony, instrumental composition, and songwriting with lyrics.

My goal is to cultivate a holistic approach that nurtures each student’s developmental needs—musically, intellectually, and creatively.
“Piano day is our favorite day of the week!“
“Allison is exactly what we were looking for in a piano teacher! She strikes a great balance between classical music theory, and encouraging creative expression. Both of my kids have written original songs with her, are learning how to read music, and also how to notate their favorite songs. This is not your basic ‘work your way through a book’ piano lessons. They are individually tailored to your child to really fuel their love of music, without them even realizing they are learning so much. Piano day is our favorite day of the week!”

“We couldn’t be happier”
“Allison has truly brought the love of piano into my daughter’s life. She’s not only learned how to play real songs, but she now has the confidence to sit down at any piano—even in front of strangers—and play with joy. What matters most to me is that my daughter genuinely loves piano, and Allison is incredible at nurturing that passion while keeping it fun and real. We couldn’t be happier!”

“We feel lucky to have her as a teacher”
“Allison is a truly wonderful piano teacher! She’s incredibly patient and kind, but also knows just how to encourage and challenge her students to grow. My son has been taking lessons with her since he was 6, and my daughter took both piano and vocal coaching with her for several years. It’s been amazing to watch their progress, not just in skill, but also in the confidence they’ve gained through working with Allison. We feel so lucky to have her as a teacher!”

About Allison Huntley
Allison’s goal is to create a supportive, engaging environment that provides a well-rounded music education tailored to each student’s unique learning needs. She holds a Master’s Certificate in Arranging and Orchestration from Berklee College of Music and brings over nine years of teaching experience to every lesson.
Allison meets each student where they are, taking time to discover what music they enjoy and using those interests to teach fundamental musical concepts—naturally encouraging consistent practice along the way.
Songwriting is Allison’s favorite medium. She encourages all of her students to write their own music and develop the ability to express themselves through original pieces. Whether you want to learn piano, voice, or songwriting, Allison finds great joy in helping others discover their unique ability to create music.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do you charge?
I charge a base fee of $40 for a 30-minute lesson and $65 for an hour. Since I travel to your location, please fill out the form below so I can provide an estimate for travel time. My goal with each client is to create a fair exchange where both parties benefit.
How old should I start my child in piano lessons?
For traditional piano lessons, I recommend starting around age 6. Before this age, early childhood lessons are often more effective. These typically include a piano lesson that is long enough to keep their attention, along with musical games, sing-alongs, percussion exploration, and musical storytelling. This approach builds a solid foundation suited to the developmental stage of young children, allowing them to progress at their own pace and develop a love for music.
Do you only teach kids?
I teach adults as well, from college students to senior citizens. Music is for everyone, and I truly enjoy working with all ages.
